its posts like these that keep me coming back
to said the gramophone
"Today is a day of real emotion. If you see me today, we'll probably fall in love. If you cross me today, I might get in my first fist fight. If you even look at me today, we'll have words. I have calm-faced and straight-backed and completely nutritional cabin fever and I'm ready to explode. I can see my house from a satellite, I can see people from my window, I see no one, not a single person from my window, I see memory graveyards online and all the cgi extras in procession. You're going to see me sing and cry and humiliate myself because I haven't said a word in weeks. You're going to see it because I said so, and I might be drunk, but this is a party I wasn't invited to. Today is a day of misplaced swagger and fortune tattle-taling. Of purple nurples and frozen park footprints. Of tapping on windows with the head of a guitar. Wrest slurping from the bottle of classic rock, come Heartless Bastards, clear and clean and high in the mix. Sing it."
Read it here
And of course, listen

the site is nicely designed, and features some great polaroid-ish looking photos of the factory.

daytrotter.com
This site is really good-looking.
Comprised of live sessions with bands, free mp3s, blogs, reviews, and more - the most compelling part of the site is that every image is illustrated. some of the cool ones above ^

jonathan adler for W hotels.
I feel like these would smell really good (even though the site doesn't specify any scent) Something about the gothic sort of type makes me think it might be like the Galliano candle from Diptyque? That one smells sexyyyyyyy.

Hi fringe mini dress and bedazzled jacket. Can I have you?
Paillette pants, you fail.

watching bonnie and clyde.
Faye Dunaway is/was HOT.
Oh, and so is Beatty.
And Gene Wilder is sort of hilarious.
Coincidentally, this film was directed by Arthur Penn, brother of Irving, who I mentioned earlier! Can you say, talented family?

i sort of thought the most interesting thing about this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/01/fashion/01ANNA.html
Was the mention of how american Vogue is the only magazine here in the states that still consistently commissions the old school and new-school "masters" of photography. The likes of Irving Penn, who I've always admired, but never really studied, Helmut Newton, and Richard Avedon stuck out to me so I've decided to post a few photos here.
Richard Avedon. (from richardavedon.com)
Helmut Newton.
and,
Irving Penn.
I think I'll make this a weekly thing checking out new and old photographers.
